Liduina Elsinghorst, O. Carm (ZEN)

Sr. Liduina Elsinghorst, member of the Carmelite community in Zenderen, The Netherlands,  died on November 3, 2006. She was 94 years old.

Sr. Liduina was born in Meddo, The Netherlands, on August 28, 1912. She made her Simple Profession on May 30, 1942.


Maria di Cristo Re, O. Carm (JES)

Sr. Maria di Cristo Re (Carmela Turin), member of the Carmelite community in Jesi, Italy, died on November 11, 2006.

Sr. Maria was born in Vicenza, Italy, on February 22, 1917. She made her Simple Profession on March 20, 1938 in the Congregation of the Sisters of the Sacred Family and in 1964 entered the Carmelite monastery in Jesi.

She served the community as prioress and was elected Counselor several times.


Daniel Lynch, O. Carm (SEL)

Fr. Daniel Lynch, member of the North American Province of St. Elias, died on December 17, 2006, following a short illness. He was 77 years old.

Fr. Dan was born on May 22, 1929 the Bronx, New York (USA). He made his simple profession on September 8, 1950 and was ordained priest on May 28, 1955.


Ellis Reinert, O. Carm (PCM)

Fr. Ellis Reinert, member of the PCM Province, died on December 24, 2006, following an illness. He was 82 years old.

Fr. Ellis was born on March 10, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois (USA). He made his simple profession on August 15, 1943 and was ordained priest on June 7, 1949.


Andrew Donnelly, O. Carm (Brit)

Fr. Andrew Donnelly, member of the British Province, died on December 26, 2006. He was 77 years old. Fr. Andrew was born on June 4, 1929 in Carfin, Scotland. He made his simple profession on September 8, 1952 and was ordained priest on July 21, 1957.


Miguel Barbero Moreno, O. Carm. (Baet)

Fr. Miguel Barbero Moneno, 76 years old, died on December 29, 2006 in the hospital of Virgen del Rocío in Seville, Spain, following an automobile accident.

He was born in Hinojosa del Duque (Córdoba), Spain, on April 14, 1930. He made his simple profession on July 29, 1948 and was ordained priest on June 27, 1954.

Fr. Miguel was in provincial formation and was a professor of theology at the Major Seminary of Osuna and the Carmelite schools in Tomelloso and Antequera. For nine years he was the Director of Novices and the served as Prior Provincial. He wrote La Imagen de la Virgen del Carmen de Jerez y su Basílica about the Carmelite church in Jerez. When he died he was the prior of the Carmelite community in Jerez de la Frontera and director of the magazine Escapulario del Carmen.


Eltin Griffin, O. Carm. (Hib)

Fr. Eltin (Patrick) Griffin, 81 years old, died during the night of December 31, 2006 at Gort Muire, Dublin, Ireland.

He was born in Ballinamona, County Cork, Ireland, on September 14, 1925. He made his simple profession on September 30, 1945 and was ordained priest on July 16, 1950.

Fr. Eltin lectured at Milltown Park for many years. A gifted preacher and communicator, he travelled extensively preaching, giving retreats, missions and lectures. He was particularly fond of the lectio divina which he guided in many packed churches throughout Ireland. He edited and wrote a number of books. He was for a time the Assistant Provincial. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.


Alan Crowley, O. Carm. (PCM)

Fr. Alan (Norbert) Crowley, 90 years old, died on January 8, 2007. He was a member of the Carmelite community in Peabody, MA.

He was born in Boston, MA (USA) on December 20, 1916. He made his simple profession on August 15, 1935 and was ordained priest on June 10, 1941.


Antoon Oude Hengel, O. Carm. (Neer)

Fr. Antoon Oude Hengel, 86 years old, died on January 10, 2007. He was a member of the Carmelite community in Zenderen, The Netherlands.

He was born in Ootmarsum on March 20, 1920. He made his simple profession on September 14, 1939 and was ordained priest on July 15, 1945.
