L'aggiornamento sui membri della Congregazione di Nostra Signora del monte Carmelo e dell'uragano che ha colpito la parte sud degli Stati Uniti di America in cui si trovano molte case della Congregazione. Queste notizie ci giungono da Sr Libby e da Sr Mary, membri della Congregazione che lavorano nell'ufficio del Laicato carmelitano della Provincia PCM e sitributo da Carmelnet:
Non abbiamo potuto realmente avere la prima
comunicazione direttamente dalle sorelle in Luisiana. Tutti hanno cercato di
lasciare la zona prima che arrivasse l'uragano, e quelli che sono rimasti
erano sicuri di non correre pericolo. Non si hanno notizie di dove si trovi
una delle Suore.
La televisione segnala il crollo del 17th Street
Canal (si intravede la nostra Casa Madre), ma dalle immagini della TV non
possiamo dire se la nostra Casa Madre e la nostra scuola siano
andati distrutti. Forse quando l'acqua sarà contenuta, se continueranno a
riprendere la zona, avremo idee più chiare sulla nostra situazione. Neppure le
nostre sorelle che sono in Luisiana (a sinistra dell'area di New Orleans,
credo) riescono a sapere molto di più, guardando la TV, sull'uragano e
sulla devastazione.
Vi faremo sapere qualcosa di più sulla situazione
appena sarà possibile.
Vi chiedo di ricordare le Suore e le migliaia di
persone che sono rimaste coinvolte in questo disastro.

Información sobre los miembros de la Congregación Our Lady of Mount Carmel y los estragos del huracán que ha devastado el sur de los Estados Unidos de América donde se encuentran muchas casas de esta Congregación. Este informe lo hacen Sor Libby y Sor Mary, miembros de dicha Congregación, las cuales trabajan en la Oficina del Laicado Carmelita de la Provincia del Purísimo Corazón de María y que han distribuido oficialmente a través de Carmelnet: No podíamos comunicarnos directamente con las Hermanas de Louisiana. Parece ser que estarán así durante mucho tiempo, pero ellas están a salvo. No sabemos nada de una hermana que no se ha podido localizar. Los informes televisivos del 17th Street Canal (muy cercanos a la Casa Madre de ellas) no nos podían dar noticias exactas y no sabíamos por las imágenes de la TV si la Casa Madre o el Colegio habían sido destruidos. Tal vez cuando el agua se retire y se puedan ver algunos vídeos de la zona, podamos tener una idea más clara de la situación. Update on the members of the Congregation of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the hurricane which struck the southern portion of the United States of America where many of the Congregation's houses are located. This report is from Sr Libby and Sr. Mary, members of the Congregation who work in the Lay Carmelite office of the PCM Province and was originally distributed by Carmelnet:
We haven't really been able to get first
hand communication about the sisters in Louisiana. It
looks as though mostly all of them left the area ahead of time, or, if they
stayed behind, that they are safe. We do know of one sister who can't be
located.
Television reports the
breach in the 17th Street Canal (just a few short blocks from our Motherhouse)
but we are not able to tell by the TV images whether or not our Motherhouse
and school have been destroyed. Perhaps when the water is contained and they
continue showing videos of the area, we will have a better idea of our
situation. Even our sisters who are in Louisiana (those who left the New
Orleans area, I mean) don't really know a lot of what we see on TV regarding
the flooding and devastation.
We will
send out additional information on the situation as it becomes available.
Please remember the sisters as well as the thousands who have been affected by
this disaster.
