Spain

Some Initial Information About the Course:

Objectives:

a)   Give the opportunity to those in formation to meet and experience the internationality of the Order, albeit for only a few days, as we did in Lisieux (1997) and in the Holy Land (2000).

b)   Organize a “praying pilgrimage” to the places in Castille which are connected with our Carmelite tradition. The principal figures, John of the Cross and Teresa of Jesus, will inspire the conferences, the reflections, prayer and the visits themselves.

c)   This will also be an occasion for Formation with opportunities to share experiences.

Method:

a)   Historical: guidelines for reading to understand the historical significance of the places to be visited.

b)   Spiritual: guidelines for reading in a spiritual sense and entering into meditation and reflection on    spiritual texts from the teaching of John and Teresa.

c)   Biographical: guidelines for each participant to re-read his life experiences

Preparations:

In order to facilitate the preparation and planning, the International Formation Commission has appointed the following brothers to organize the meeting: John Keating (Hib.), Simone Gamberoni (Ita.), Günther Benker (GerS) and Desiderio García Martinez (Arag.).

Cost of stay:

Cost of stay: € 650.00 this includes accommodation in Avila and Salamanca, transfers, visits and trips to places of Teresian and Sanjuanist interest. Obviously the cost of travel from your own country to Avila is not included. Those provinces or commissariats seeking financial assistance in meeting all or some of the cost, should contact the Vice General directly.
